I named the business Firefly, because my vision for the company is to help people ignite their inner light so they can light up the world. My hope is that everyone who joins the community by attending one of our retreats, workshops, classes or events will shine in their communities, and give others permission to let their lights shine. I recently listened to a podcast in which Oprah Winfrey was interviewing Marianne Williamson, whose most famous quote is at the top of this post. During the discussion, Williamson talked about the archetype of the woman as the mother, and how that could be expanded. Women take care of children, and all the people of the world are our children. Women take care of the home, and the entire Earth is our home. She stated that “if you know what changes a heart, you know what changes the world because a nation is a collection of individuals.” Williamson also talked about the soul as the truth of us, and that our job is to get rid of the useless fear that hides the light of the soul in the same way that Michelangelo removed the excess marble to reveal the statue inside. Each of us are authentically fashioned from love. There may be times in our lives that we find ourselves reacting to circumstances. However, those moments do not define who we are; our authentic self is love. As someone who has spent a decade peeling away the layers of fear, doubt and external expectations, I have discovered what works for me to reveal my true self. Through Firefly, I wish to show others how they can tap into their passions and authentic self.
