Many of you know that our ultimate goal at Firefly is to open our own retreat center in Colorado. The reality is that milestone will take many years, and may never come to fruition. I'll be honest that the lack of viable properties, the high cost to build and the many roadblocks to operating a business in an otherwise residential area all have me taking my foot off the gas pedal and re-evaluating how best to serve Firefly's community.
It has not been a decision that I have taken lightly, however, it feels like the right thing to do at this point in time. Letting go of (or simply pressing pause on) a big dream is hard, but the good news is that this decision frees up time to bring more services, programs and events to the community. With the land search on hold, I have lots of ideas for offerings over the next 12-18 months.
