Summer Outdoor Event Series

Starting June 2, 2021

Get outside with Firefly this summer! We're excited to be back to in-person events. There's something for everyone with walking, hiking, biking, yoga, and stand up paddle boarding. Satisfy your longing for a connection to nature as you explore all that Colorado has to offer by foot, bike, and board. Tap into nature's ability to inspire. Experiencing mindful time outdoors to attune with nature's cycles is a powerful way to reduce stress, improve well-being, and find more joy in life! The average American spends 11 hours per day on a screen, and more than 90% of their lives indoors. Unplug and join us outside to rejuvenate your soul. Denver Heart and Stroke Walk - Firefly Community Team Walk in Evergreen, CO

Saturday, June 5, 2021

As a heart disease survivor, I'm pleased to be leading a team again for the annual Denver Heart & Stroke Walk again this year. While the main event will be virtual this year, I'm hosting a group walk for Firefly Community's team in Evergreen, CO. Whether you choose to walk with us, or participate by walking where you are, take a moment to consider your impact. You will keep hearts beating. The hearts of moms, dads, brothers, aunts and babies. This year's donations will help fast track COVID-19 research and train front-line workers while we continue the fight against heart disease and stroke.

Heart walk has always been about coming together, getting hearts pumping, honoring survivors, raising lifesaving funds – and having fun along the way.

Thank you for your passion and dedication to the mission:  To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives!

WholeHearted Bike Tour in Golden, CO

Sunday, July 11, 2021

The WholeHearted Bike Tour is back in-person this year! When I was 31 years old, I suffered a heart attack while on a 60-mile bike ride in the foothills of Colorado. A lot has changed since then! I became a Holistic Health Practitioner, then a Yoga Teacher, left my 18-year career in Human Resources, and started Firefly Community to help others find their path to health and happiness. I've hosted four in-person WholeHearted Bike Tours, and one virtual tour last year due to COVID-19.

Join us in a ride in Golden, CO on July 11, to support the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine. PCRM's vision is "Creating a healthier world through a new emphasis on plant-based nutrition and scientific research conducted ethically, without using animals." PCRM's efforts are dramatically changing the way doctors treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and cancer. By putting prevention over pills, doctors are empowering their patients to take control of their own health.

Whether your bike is a road, hybrid, mountain, or cruiser, join us on a paved bike path in Golden along Clear Creek. I'll outline different options of where to turn around based on how far you want to go! The path is tree-lined for nearly its entire route, and seldom far from the pleasant sound of rushing water.

While this is a donation-based event, please register to let us know you are participating and to receive the full details of where to meet, etc!

Stand Up Paddleboarding - Intro to SUP and SUP Yoga

Various dates in June, July and August

Experience Colorado's freshest water sport, Stand Up Paddleboarding, held on the calm waters of Standley Lake in Westminster, CO and Bear Creek Lake in Lakewood, CO. In the Intro to SUP classes, learn the SUP basics of safety, paddle technique, and maneuvering your board with confidence. No experience necessary! In the SUP Yoga classes, we'll practice yoga poses to incorporate strength, balance, core, and flexibility. One of the fastest-growing water sports, SUP yoga combines the healthy benefits of outdoor recreation with the fundamentals of asana practice in a way that is accessible to all experience levels. Enjoy the serenity of taking your yoga on the water!

You must register in advance through the City of Westminster Outdoor Recreation department for classes at Standley Lake and through Rocky Mountain Paddleboard for classes at Bear Creek Lake. At Bear Creek Lake, I'm teaching every other Thursday starting on June 3, and the following Sundays: June 6, July 18, and August 1 and 15.
